hey there ppl !! It's so totally great to be in touch with other young people who're hungry for God! I'm 17,and was introduced to Christ only a year ago , and a major struggle for me has been (and continues to be) about choosing to spend time reading the bible or praying rather than dropping off to sleep or watchin a movie. I'd like to know if there are others around who face something similar..do tell me how u deal with it It's totally great to know that we have such an amazing God whose power is available to us all the time..just because we're His people..it'snt that lovely..and He loves us JUST as we are! WOW ! Thank God for being just a Great God! Lov ya all, keep in touch!

hey!! I've got the same problem. Whenever I spend time with God, especially when I pray, sometimes I'd just go lie on the bed to pray, knowing that I would fall asleep any moment. =P Well I dont really know how to deal with it. It's a pretty big temptation. But somewhere in the Word it says that God wont let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. So I know we're able to conquer it, as "I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength"! haha, easier said than done I guess. But we can just try to push ourselves to do it. It's so encouraging to see so many people loving God, excited with Him. But I've yet to know Him more intimately.. Hope to grow in here too. yeah!

Hey, you two: keep at it! But beware "forcing" yourself. We cannot use our own strength to grow in God. Actually, it's just the opposite: admit our own weakness and surrender that to God. Then He replaces it w/ His strength to do what we need to do. Phil 2:13 says, "For it is GOD who works in us, both to will and to do for His good pleasure." See? it isn't us. Any strength in us is for the purpose of ministry; but we are to be little kids in our relationship w/ Him first. I'm learning to be weak so He can be strong (He will not compete w/ us), to die to myself so He can live thru me. I bet I surrender myself at least 85 times a day to God!! And the more I do, the more of me actually comes under His control. "All of Him and none of me..."

Hello Beloved, Well welcome to the family sister! I am sooo proud of you both for admitting your struggles you are half way there.Cindy has really great points....but I am thinking that you both may be having a hard time "praying and reading" because you see it as a chore. As something you have to do...instead of something you want to do. So here is a little tool... Don't lie down on the bed to pray...you know you will fall asleep inside your head you will use it as an excuse"I meant to... I just fell asleep..." Do this...walk around your day and just thankHIm!thankhim for loving you.. saving you.. for whatever.. thankhim you have a shower and toilet paper I don't care.. just thank Him...(Voila! You are praying!) Now reading... start... in John... just read three verses.. ask the Holy Spirit to help you really get what you are reading... try to picture things in your head...the atmosphere.. so by walking around thanking God.. you are praying! and by reading three verses a day you are reading! Not hard at all... baby steps beloveds baby steps...please don't ever forget that all praying is is communication with Jesus...and don't ever think that to get anything out of the bible you have to read all this stuff...it is more important that you get what little you read than to read all kinds of chapters and have nothing sink in.. take these tools and use them as a guide.. I am very proud of you both.. keep up the good work!
Your Fellow Servant in Christ, Glory
