What do you do when none of your friends are christians and your parents think God is a joke? I was going to church every Sunday up until about 3-4 monthes ago. My mom and I got into a fight and she said I couldn't go to church any more. Well, when she calmed down she took what she said back but ever since then she always makes an excuss to not go. Whenever I am with my aunt I go to church with her because she is the one who lead me to Christ, but that is the only time. Now I don't see her anymore except for maybe once a month and I feel hurt inside because I am not as close to God as I used to be. For a while I kept on reading His word and praying every night, but without going to church to praise and worship it seems like there is something missing. I feel as if I did something wrong and that he isn't there when I need him like he used to be. It is almost a burden when I remember at night that I haven't prayed or read the Bible yet that day. I don't want it to feel that way though. What should I do?

My advise to you is to get in the word. Get back to where you were, He doesn't hate you and he's not going to punish you. He loves you so much! He died for you. pick yourself off the ground and quit feeling bad for yourself. He will welcome you back with open arms. Like the prodigal son. No matter what you've done, he is always there. You haven't done anything terrible, all christians go through dry periods in there walk. Its coming out of it that is the hardest. You can do it Girl! But you can't starve your spirit man, the word is his food.. don't starve your spirit.

Like Tommy Tenney gave the illustration of his son in the elevator. His son was 5 and his view wasn;t that great. So he raised his hands to his dad and said, "I can't see down here daddy, pick me up."
Thats what you need to do, raise your hands to him in humility so that he can lift you up from the mucky muck muck.. lol.. and you can see things from heavens eye-view, Girl God has so much in store for you, He wants you all to himself. I admire you! You can do this. Let him lift you from this. Being a christian isn't easy, but your circumstances will just make you stronger. So go get into the word and back into his arms. He will never leave you! He will never forsake you, walk in that and your family will see how awesome God is and they will turn to him. Don't be discouraged by what you see. God has already ordered your steps in heaven, so don't worry.. I love you Girl

Your sister in Christ,
Lifting you up, always,
Melissa

P.S if you have a good computer, check out Church services on www.day7.tv to get fed. read Romans 8, that always makes me happy, and encourages me to be like him, Col. 3 also. helps me.. Be so blessed!

Thank you so much. After I read what you wrote I felt a strong urge to begin reading His word and praying. That night I read for almost 2 1/2 hours and prayed about everything. Afterwards I felt so relieved and free it was amazing. I feel like I am slowly getting back in touch with God. I read the scriptures you gave me and it really uplifted me.

Its harder when your family isnt saved they dont understand why you refuse to watch ceartin shows, and so certin things, they say your becoming obssesed, that your going crazy, that your taking it to far and this is not only the way your family feels but others too sometimes even other christians, but if you really want to get close to GOD you need to get rid of sin every sin that you have sin seperates us from GOD.When I feel like I'am surronded so to speak on all sides GOD just reminds me of His promise  "Blessed are you when men shall revile you and persecute and shall all manner of evile against you falsely for my sake.Rejoice and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were befor you"  Matthew 5;11-12.  your friend Princess

I'll admit I was a teen YEARS ago - maybe I shouldn't even be putting my two cents onto this part of the message board! But I wanted to encourage you: I was the solitary in my family. I got saved at 11; my mom did when I was 15 or 16, and my dad did just before I turned 19. So stick w/ God everyday; not only do you need it, but your family does as well. You are their link w/ Him, so learn to pray in faith for them, live His love in front of them, and they'll eventually come around.

    In Pursuit, Cindy
