Ok guys. I'm trying to find God here but He's not showing up. I bought a few Tommy Tenney Books including the one with all the different prayers in it. I do the repentence prayer a lot because I sin much more then I should but I don't feel like I'm being forgiven for them. So I'm thinking maybe it's because I'm continually sinning and God doesn't feel like I'm sorry for them. Is jerking off a sin or something that is frowned on by God? I do that a little toooo much sad to say and if it is a sin I'm probably going to hell :P I heard Tom Tenney on the TBN channel say that if you find God he makes the temptation to women not so hard to handle. But if He frowns on me doing what I do and thats the reason he won't let me find Him how am I supposed to get help handling it? Sorry for this being so long, but believe it or not, I still have more questions to ask. So I'll let someone respond to this one before I bog everyone down with more dumb questions.

Hello Jagga I want to first assure you that you are on the right track - you acknowledge your weaknesses and your sins. That's good. Also you acknowledge that you need God and you want to be a God Chaser that is very commending! Now to your question if God is hiding - that is if He does not want to reveal Himself to you! Let me say that- it is our sins that make us 'feel' that way! God is loving!!! And though you have sinned it does not stop Him from wanting us as children and to be part of our daily lives. In the book of Genesis 3 - God came down to see Adam & Eve and what did they do? They hid themselves! Why because they KNEW THAT THEY HAD SINNED - they had gone against God's command! Yet He came to them. Isaiah talks about how our sins separates us from GOD. And the same Word of God enjoins us to come and reason with God - Isaiah 1:15-16 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21 So if you repent from your sins, and you acknowledge God's forgiving power - the LORD will forgive you and you MUST WALK IN THAT FORGIVENESS and walk from then on with the leading of the Holy Spirit as He would take residence in your heart immediately your sins are forgiven and lead you on how to go. During the my years of serving the Lord, there have been crossroads and the need for Gods direction. Sometimes the choice was made thinking the decision was obvious, only to learn I had made a mistake. How much better it would have been if I had taken time to consult Gods roadmapthe Bible! In every decision, we need to take time to consult God and then wait patiently for his directions. Daily prayer with our Father in Heaven and obedience to His Word will insure that we reach the proper destination. Yours In The Vineyard, Amareno "As the deer panteth after the waterbrooks, so panteth my soul after thee oh Lord" (Psalm 42:1)

"Come unto me." --Matthew 11:28 The cry of the Christian religion is the gentle word, "Come." The Jewish law harshly said, "Go, take heed unto thy steps as to the path in which thou shalt walk. Break the commandments, and thou shalt perish; keep them, and thou shalt live." The law was a dispensation of terror, which drove men before it as with a scourge; the gospel draws with bands of love. Jesus is the good Shepherd going before His sheep, bidding them follow Him, and ever leading them onwards with the sweet word, "Come." The law repels, the gospel attracts. The law shows the distance which there is between God and man; the gospel bridges that awful chasm, and brings the sinner across it. From the first moment of your spiritual life until you are ushered into glory, the language of Christ to you will be, "Come, come unto me." As a mother puts out her finger to her little child and woos it to walk by saying, "Come," even so does Jesus. He will always be ahead of you, bidding you follow Him as the soldier follows his captain. He will always go before you to pave your way, and clear your path, and you shall hear His animating voice calling you after Him all through life; while in the solemn hour of death, His sweet words with which He shall usher you into the heavenly world shall be--"Come, ye blessed of my Father." Nay, further, this is not only Christ's cry to you, but, if you be a believer, this is your cry to Christ--"Come! come!" You will be longing for His second advent; you will be saying, "Come quickly, even so come Lord Jesus." You will be panting for nearer and closer communion with Him. As His voice to you is "Come," your response to Him will be, "Come, Lord, and abide with me. Come, and occupy alone the throne of my heart; reign there without a rival, and consecrate me entirely to Thy service."

Thanks for responding. I don't know if everyone thought that this post was a joke or what. There was 80-90 views before anyone decided to even respond. When I said that God was hiding from me I didn't mean so that He couldn't be found, although I didn't quite say that. I read in one of the Tommy Tenney books that God hides so that He can be found. And that the hiding part is just to build up that moment and make it more enjoyable when He reveals Himself. If I repent for the bad things that I do but then go and do them again would that stop God from revealing Himself to me?

Hello Jigga Isaiah 1:15-16 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; The scripture above says that our sins puts a barrier between us and the LORD. God is a holy God. The fact that we operate in a dispensation of grace does not give us the liberty to continue in sin. "Shall we sin that grace may abound? God forbid" Grace gives us the opportunity to repent and to avoid repeating such sins. "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared...Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs." -- (Titus 3:4,6-7) If you sin will God hide Himself from you? Uhm!? Let's use this anology, you are a father of 2 and a particular one of these 2 likes to smoke even after you have warned him and spoke to him abut the dangers of smoking. He still goes to smoke. The next time you are told he smoked, what would you do? Yours In The Vineyard, Amareno "As the deer panteth after the waterbrooks, so panteth my soul after thee oh Lord" (Psalm 42:1)

we say that if we sin, God hides himself from us. But that's not quite the way I think about it. In the story of the fall, it was Adam and Eve who hid themselves from God (though he did throw them out). I would say that sin hides US from God. Isaiah 59:1-2 "Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." He wants to clean you from this sin- its not as if he has given up. James 4:7-10 "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." I would advise you to join a church or youth group or something like that. God intends for us to experience him with others. Find a close group of friends who can help you day in and day out. Find people who know God, and stick with them. Ecclesiates 4:12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Find out what God is doing around you, and get involved. Be bold. Get a bible. Count the cost of your relationship with God. How much are you willing to give him? Don't expect to live with him if you want to hold something back.
