God doesn't want you to be depressed and down over financial matters. It seems things are so different these days. We hear the voice of Jesus saying "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavey laden and I will give you rest", and we plant our feet in the house of God and become bogged down with duties and money concerns, before the Holy Spirit gets a chance to work with our hearts and begin transformation. I believe in paying tithes, if this is what we have to call it. I believe the word of God that says give and it shall be given back to you. God has never failed me. But I want to share a testimony. I had just joined church, and I wanted to do everything right. They mentioned tithing and I truly wanted to give, but at that time 10% was more than I could afford. I remember going to my pastor's wife and telling her. Her response was for me to give what I could give, and the Lord will make away for me to give more. Then I read in the scriptures: 6But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: I purposed in my heart to give a certain amount, and before I knew it I was increasing, not by commandment but my heart had the desire to give. And I also want to say I do believe we can tithe with our time. I know this is a touchy subject, so I must tell you to hold your head up. For by grace you were saved, not of works, but it is a gift. Rejoice in your gift of redemption. What shall you render to the Lord for all his benefits? Give God a sacrifice of praise. Give him a broken and contrite spirit. Present your body a living sacrifice, wholly and acceptable unto God. When you begin to do these things, you cannot help but praise. Be encouraged. God is going to work it all. God bless you. CRose

Deut. 12:7 "and ye shall rejoice at all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee." I truly believe in what was just said in the last post. It has to come from the heart. But that includes all that we do for the Lord. And peace will come in the giving as God leads you. Do not let the devil in the door here. We give out of a cheerful heart not out of fear. Take it one step at a time as God leads in the Holy Ghost. And you will see His increase. And I understand that one income family. But I am amazed how God has stretched one paycheck. And I homeschool which adds to the financial burden. But the money is there. I praise Him for all he does. He honors us and cares for us.

The above entries are so right-on! Just keep in mind: "It's ALL God's, anyway". All He asks back from us is 10%. That 10% is HIS, not ours to spend. But don't get condemned here: God knows your heart, and if you trust Him, He will show you ways of budgeting so you can get into the tithing mode. And be warned: you will be tested. But don't quit; crops take time to come up. Also, giving (offerings) and tithing (returning) are two different things. The tithe is GOD'S..giving is from "our" money (the 90% that He lets us keep). That's where being in God's economy really gets exciting, and He starts increasing us into abundance. The ancient Jews gave a triple tithe; when they were faithful, they were the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth. And He's at least as gracious to us in this day! When we started giving above and beyond our tithe, our income increased by about 40% within a couple of months. And the more we stick w/ tithing PLUS give offerings, the more our income increases. I found myself praying the other day for God to double my husband's income by years' end. ! We so have a desire to give abundantly to missions, and are ourselves involved in two ministries w/in our church that always need more funding. Start where you can, and trust Him for the rest! You can't outgive God!
