Redeemer Revival Ministries I Love You, My Warhorses Betty Seiley Jun 23, 2004 Isn't it just like the Holy Spirit to have us at the right place at the right time, even in the Word, or I should say, especially in the Word of God? In speaking to my heart about the next message to write on the mutual love of Jesus and the Bride, Holy Spirit has given me several confirmations to write on spiritual warfare today. The Lord is very precise in everything He does. The very next verse in chapter 1 of the Song of Solomon, verse 9, says, " I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots." In Song of Songs 1:9, the Bridegroom tells the Bride that He has compared her to a company of warhorses. Even though this is no laughing matter, this passage reveals some of the Lord's sense of humor. In modern day English, he says to her, "Oh, I love you so. You remind me of a herd of warhorses." If your spouse were to say that to you, you might be taken aback for a second. Actually, the Bridegroom is giving the Bride (corporate body) a wonderful compliment. I believe it would be safe to say that Pharaoh's horses were some of the fiercest and strongest warhorses to be found anywhere. Job 39:19-25 gives us an awe-inspiring description of warhorses. "Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? The glory of his nostrils is terrible. He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword. The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield. He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet. He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting." The Holy Spirit paints a bold picture of the warhorse, with broad and definitive strokes, in this description of a horse going into battle. Those of us who have been Christians for more than a day or two know that we must do battle with the enemy in this glorious newness of life to which we have been called in Christ Jesus. We are not left defenseless, however. Our Bridegroom infuses our hearts with faith and strength as He commissions us to go forth into the battle with the fierceness of mighty warhorses. The Lord has faith in us that we have never imagined. As the body and bride of Christ, He sees us as strong in battle as these horses with necks clothed with thunder, flaring nostrils going into battle, pawing in impatience to join the battle. Warhorses can smell the battle in the air, and they are eager to overcome the enemy. The riders sometimes have to hold the reins tightly to keep them from getting out in front of the company. The warhorse mocks at fear and is not afraid. The spiritual application of this is that because the Lion of the Tribe of Judah is leading us, we fear no evil, for He is with us. No evil shall befall us and no plague shall come near our dwelling as we dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the Shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91 Jesus said to the disciples many times, "Fear not." The warhorse doesn't turn back from the battle once it is joined. He swallows the ground with fierceness and rages against the enemy. He gets so caught up in the battle, that, when the soldier who is assigned to blow the trumpet to halt the battle, the warhorse doesn't want to stop fighting because that is what he was created to do. His bloodline is that of a warhorse, and he has been trained for battle. Some of these pedigreed warhorses cost their masters tens of thousands of dollars. Do you see the parallels in spiritual warfare for Christians? The Bride and Body of Christ has to do battle many times to hold back the tide of evil in the world. The only thing that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing, is a famous quote. Evil in the world is embodied in Satan and his demons, not in your spouse or some other person. "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night, And they overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony: and they loved not their lives unto the death. Rev. 12:9-11 Christians must stand up to the devil and evil men, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, the Name of Jesus, the Word of God, and the Blood of Jesus. He has given us these weapons of our warfare, which are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of the enemy's strongholds. 2 Cor. 10:4-5 We stand against Satan for our families and friends, brothers and sisters, and for people whom we may never see when we do battle in intercession. Spiritual warfare is a very real part of the Christian life, and we must fight as the challenge arises from the enemy, whether it comes from the devil or his demons, or from those who desire to destroy us and our freedom in Christ and in our nation. He teaches our hands to war. We forgive those who have accused us wrongly, and pray for them, because they don't know that they are in concert with the accuser of the brethren, the devil. Jesus prayed, "Father, forgive them for they don't know what they do," as He was giving his Life on the cross. Those who know better should be very cautious about accusing brothers and sisters in Christ. God's Word warns us that we shall be judged by our words. "Finally, all of you live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. For whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech (gossip). He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." 1 Peter 3:8,10-12 If Christians accuse brothers and sisters in Christ, a chink in the believer's armor is made. The devil has very little trouble dealing deadly blows to those who do such things. I have seen this kind of thing happen to two beloved brothers and a dear sister in Christ. Let's keep our hearts and our hands clean and keep our tongues from evil so that we can be the warhorses we were designed by Him to be.
