Sinai, God wanted to interact DIRECTLY w/ them, but they were too afraid so insisted Moses deal w/ Him for them. This is not to say God ever turned His back on His people, or that He is through w/ Israel! It's just that they turned down the greatest offer in all of history, so God had to deal w/ them as it unfolded in the Old Testament. But thank God, Jesus came to undo that necessity, and we can KNOW Him for ourselves!!!
