One appreciation I have for Tommy's books is that my heart "leaps" as I read..saying "YES! I have that!" YES! I want that too!" "YES! I'm experiencing the same hunger!" "YES! I'm tired of church the way it's always been!" "YES! I'm tired of man's attempts to "program" revival!" It seems like each chapter, paragraph I turn to, my spirit screams "YES! This is what I want!" Seems like I never can get satisfied just knowing Jesus is passing through! I want to find that "sycamore tree" and make a fool of myself by climbing it, even to only get a glimpse of the Lord! But, I want Him to say "Bud", Come down, I'm going to your house!" There's a wave of hunger sweeping through the body of Christ today! He wants His children to be "starving" for Him! He is looking for those who are not getting "satisfied" with the food of the world, and are coming with "empty stomachs (hearts)" to this table He is preparing! He is the One creating within us this "dissatisfaction" with the world's table..We can only be fed by the Bread of Life, even though we may only be "smelling it"..It's coming!

As I read this, the following was quickened in my spirit - be blessed and encouraged... AHa! The soul that longs for the LORD He fills For He put that longing in thy soul And you made a choice to respond to that hunger May He quench that thirst with cool refreshing water that never run dry May your heart constantly seek His manna for each day for the sustainance of thy soul For thy soul indeed must be filled Emptiness is not of the LORD for He desires to fill thee... Yours In The Vineyard, Amareno "As the deer panteth after the waterbrooks, so panteth my soul after thee oh Lord" (Psalm 42:1)

quote:
God is not coming to people who merely seek His benefits. He's coming to people who seek His face. In the Old Testament, when a person refused to show you his face, he was deliberately turning away from you. Ancient orders of the Church practiced 'shunning.' We can brag on our accomplishments or we can ignore our inadequacies, but no matter what we do, only repentance will get us anywhere with God. The God Chasers chapter 3, page 47.
There are many, like us, who have an insatiable hunger and thirst for the sweet, clear and transformative power of His manifest presence. The vast selection of religious programs and meaningless social activities of the status quo are not attractive to the true God Chaser. The genuine seeker's spiritual stomach fiercely rumbles in protest in response to the ingestion of the polluted, milquetoast religious counterfeits that so saturate the contemporary "Church." Only those that that are truly hungry for Him will gladly pay any price to know Him in His fulness. The only way to enter and abide in the secret "face place" of the Almighty, is to take the narrow, steep and bloody path of repentance until the "flesh" has been taken care of by the power of Calvary's Cross. Those that claim to have a hunger to experience the depths of Jesus Christ but are unwilling to embrace the Cross of Repentance, are only deceiving themselves and will never know the favor or Glory of our loving Creator. Too many believers have a burning hunger, alright, but it is for all the wrong things. They are obsessed with the signs, wonders, and miracles wrought by the hands of God but have no desire for relationship. Too often the "Give Me" gospel is preached instead of the Cross. All of us need to pay the price to pursue and find that pearl of great price, which is noneother than the intimacy, communion and rest in the presence of our Heavenly Lover. Far too many believers hunger for the temporary provision and blessings that are wrought at His hands yet have no time for, or interest in, establishing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. These believers' hearts are overflowing with weeds; the cares and worries of this life. Some of them will travel thousands of miles to attend a crusade or conference in order to receive teaching loaded with Scriptural concotions that will supposedly force God to do the things they think He should do for them. Fortunately for the Body of Christ, the Lord is raising up humble revolutionaries, who have an insatiable hunger and a fiery zeal to behold the face of God. These hungry warriors will take the road less traveled, the road of repentance, in order to find rest in the divine manifest presence of their Lord and Master.
Seeking His face and not His hand! Sincerely, Isaac

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I'm also a hopeless chaser of Daddy God! I want to experience as much of Him as I can, and still be alive on this planet. I've been 'chasing' Him for just over a year, and learned more about Him (and myself along the way) than in all the 33 previous years of my life w/ God! One of the things that helps me the most in keeping my love and desire for Him is discovering a lot of the Christian literary classics, that Tommy, AW Tozer and others like them quote. Some of you would surely enjoy them too. Thomas a Kempis, a Medieval monk in Holland; wrote The Imitation of Christ. Oh, my...just dripping w/ the love of God. I wept my way through most of this as I did Tommy's books.(And I'm not a cryer by nature!) E.M.Bounds - The Necessity of Prayer, and Power Through Prayer Teresa of Avila - Interior Castle ,and The Way of Perfection Brother Lawrence - I think this one's called Practicing the Presence of God Madame Guyon - A Short & Easy Method of Prayer I use these as part of my devotional reading most days. Apart from an occasional mention of purgatory, sacraments, etc- obvious Roman Catholic terms (most of these precious saints were Catholics)- I've found nothing that doesn't square w/ the Bible. In fact, these people were God-chasers to the core! I often feel dwarfed by their faith, their vision, and their deep, abiding love for the Father, and their selfless service to others. We should all aspire to such holiness in our daily lives. These can be found on the Christian Classics Ethereal Library- http://www.ccel.org Some are short enough to print up; I keep them in a notebook to refer back to. It's a shame that the modern Church knows so little of these awesome saints of the past and their inspired writings, so I'm spreading the word! Enjoy...

Thanx to Cindy g thank you so much for saying that Catholics can be GodChasers too. I have met many pentecostal and evangelical people who seem to think that they are the only ones who will seek after God's face and will see God's face. I love my Roman Catholic faith but it dosen't make me any less a GodChaser or any less holy. The protestant world acclaimms Mother Teresa as a great woman of God but her foundation was Jesus and a deep love and devotion to her Catholic faith. Thanx again cindy
