" ...all that night the Lord drove the sea back... " Exodus 14 : 21 (NIV) The miracle of rolling back the Red Sea happened 'all that night.' The morning simply revealed what God had done the night before, while they were sleeping. Good news: God works the night shift! Even though you feel lost and alone, He's still on the job, working 'all things after the counsel of His own will' (Eph 1:11). Have you heard of 'songs in the night'? Here's one of them: 'When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.' You may not be able to see Him today, but His eyes are still on you. If you're a student at school, or a young couple hard-pressed financially, or a divorcee struggling to get back on your feet, or you're a servant of God labouring in difficult circumstances, or just lonely and in need of companionship, here are some words to help get you through till the morning: (1) 'I have been young, and now I am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, [have you?] nor his seed begging bread' (Ps 37:25). (2) '...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh [it's on the way!] in the morning' (Ps 30:5). (3) 'In all these things [whatever you're facing] we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us' (Rom 8:37). Be encouraged - God's working in the dark!
