Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 Have you ever said, when faced with a seemingly insurmountable dilemma, I simply cannot face this problem? You are not alone. Facing difficult problems has existed since the fall of man. Consulting with your spouse, your pastor, or a friend can solve many difficulties. In our modern day we have many books of instructions on how to cope with various problems. However, at times even they cannot help. At such a time it would be best to look to Jesus, the expert problem solver. In the Bible we read of men and women who faced difficult problems. In 1 Samuel, chapter 30, we read where David was in distress. While he and his men were out of the city, the enemy came and stole his family and his possessions. A real problem, I would say. But David encouraged himself in the Lord. Verse 8 tells us, David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. David followed the instructions of the Lord and recovered his family and his possessions. In the Book of Daniel we read that Daniel and his friends had a reason to be concerned. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream but forgot what the dream was. He called his wise men and demanded of them to tell him what his dream was and to give him the interpretation. Worse yet, he told them that if they could not give him this information, he would have them all slain. Imagine the distressed feeling of these wise men, which included Daniel and his three friends. Daniel knew of the decree and he went to his house and told his three friends about their problem. They desired mercies of the God of Heaven concerning this secret, and they knew where to go. That night, in a vision, the dream and the interpretation were revealed to Daniel. Are you all stressed out? Is there no one or nowhere to turn to? The songwriter wrote these words, What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. Jesus cares for you, and He will bear your problems if you will only turn to Him.
